Wal-Mart Offering Possible 21.95% Return Over the Next 30 Calendar Days

Wal-Mart's most recent trend suggests a bearish bias. One trading opportunity on Wal-Mart is a Bear Call Spread using a strike $77.50 short call and a strike $82.50 long call offers a potential 21.95% return on risk over the next 30 calendar days. Maximum profit would be generated if the Bear Call Spread were to expire worthless, which would occur if the stock were below $77.50 by expiration. The full premium credit of $0.90 would be kept by the premium seller. The risk of $4.10 would be incurred if the stock rose above the $82.50 long call strike price.

The 5-day moving average is moving down which suggests that the short-term momentum for Wal-Mart is bearish and the probability of a decline in share price is higher if the stock starts trending.

The 20-day moving average is moving down which suggests that the medium-term momentum for Wal-Mart is bearish.

The RSI indicator is at 21.4 level which suggests that the stock is neither overbought nor oversold at this time.

Reuters – A final group of claimants has dropped its opposition to a $161 million proposed settlement of personal injury lawsuits tied to plastic gas containers, increasing the likelihood it will receive court approval next month. Wal-Mart Stores Inc, which sold the red plastic gas containers once made by Blitz USA, would contribute part of the settlement. More than 80 personal injury, wrongful death and negligence lawsuits have been filed by consumers and their families alleging that the gas containers once made by Blitz USA were dangerously defective and causing explosions. Blitz once dominated the market for such containers, but in the face of a flood of litigation it filed for bankruptcy in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Wilmington, Delaware, in November 2011.
